In 1957, St. John’s (Hain’s) was asked and agreed to sponsor Boy Scout Troop 423 of Lower Heidelberg Township. Since that time, the troop has continued to grow and prosper. 16 scouts are currently registered, including 2 Eagle Scouts; 5 scouts have earned the Life rank, one with his Eagle application pending.
Meetings are held most Sunday afternoons in the basement of the band shell in the church grove. We are fortunate to have the use of Camp Davis, approximately 9 1/2 wooded acres situated in both Heidelberg and North Heidelberg Townships, for campouts. The Boy Scouts meet in the Church Grove the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 6 p.m. (except for Holidays). They meet in the Chapel when it’s raining or snowing.
